Information about Dental Insurance

Insurance coverage is constantly changing, which can cause many misunderstandings and result in decisions that may affect your oral health. It is best to stay informed, so there are no surprises. At Bite Dental Works, we are happy to help you do that. Read more information below, and call us if you have any questions.

Assignment of Dental Insurance Benefits

We will accept assignment (meaning that your insurance company pays us directly) of your dental insurance under the following conditions:

  • The patient must have a complete new patient examination.
  • The patient (or person responsible for the account) must pay their deductibles and estimated co-insurance at the end of every appointment.
  • The patient accepts responsibility for their account. We have no relationship with your insurance company, and you are responsible for any balances on your account after the insurance company has paid us.
  • The patient must fill out an insurance information sheet and fax it to us 48 hours before their first appointment. Just call our office, and we will fax you a blank insurance form to fill out. You can also download the form here.
  • Please fax your insurance information sheet to 403-201-2597 or email it to

Health and Safety Information

To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, all clinical materials at Bite Dental Works are sterilized or are disposable. All surfaces in our treatment rooms are disinfected between patients and our clinical staff members wear gloves and masks at all times. All instruments and instrument trays are taken to our sterilization area, where they are washed in a commercial dishwasher and then sterilized in a steam autoclave. Our autoclaves (instrument sterilizers) are monitored monthly by the University of Alberta to ensure that they are working properly.

Our office has state-of-the-art amalgam traps to catch amalgam (mercury) before it enters the sewer system. Our practice is amalgam-free. Dental amalgam is used for silver fillings and has been used in dentistry for over 100 years. Dental amalgam contains 50% mercury. We do not use amalgam for any of our restorations. If you have a latex allergy, please inform us and we will use latex-free gloves and a rubber dam for your appointments.
