How to keep a healthy looking smile

Updated: Jun 14, 2023

We all know how hard it is to maintain that gorgeous smile that keeps us looking our best. Fortunately for you, there are ways to make that dream into your reality. Keeping your teeth looking their brightest is a simple matter of paying attention to what comes into contact with your teeth and just a little bit of maintenance. At Bite Dental, we take pride in the care we provide to all of our patients. Let our team of experts show you a few ways you can keep your smile looking healthy and great.

1. Quit smoking:

We all know by now that smoking is one of the main causes of stains on your teeth. It seeps deep into the enamel of your teeth, and if left unaddressed, could become permanent. It damages your gums and is one of the leading causes of gum disease. Quitting smoking is the first step toward healthier and better looking teeth and gums.

2. Cut the red wine and coffee:

Coffee and red wine are two more top ranking culprits when it comes to staining your beautiful, white teeth. These stains are usually superficial (meaning they can be removed by a dentist using a special kind of polish) but can also be easily avoided by cutting down your intake of these two beverages.

3. Floss, floss and…you guessed it, floss:

One of the main detriments to your smile is simply not flossing enough. We all know the age old lie of “yes I’ve been flossing”, dentists have heard it for years and years. But if you want to truly improve the health and beauty of your smile, making sure that you floss regularly is incredibly important. Flossing on a daily basis will improve the health of your teeth and gums by getting to all the plaque a toothbrush won’t be able to reach.

4. See your dentist at least twice a year:

You’ve heard this a thousand times before, but seeing your dentist in Calgary on Macleod Trail every six months will ensure that your oral health is being taken care of. As an added bonus, they will also make sure your teeth are properly cleaned, leaving your smile looking bright and white.

5. Don’t buy a cheap toothbrush:

A quality electric toothbrush is a great way to take care of plaque in a way that a traditional toothbrush just can’t manage.

If you’re looking to have whiter teeth, or need dental crowns in the Calgary area, make an appointment with Bite Dental. Our friendly dental staff will ensure that you are well educated about our treatments and services. Call us today.
